DESCRIPTION:
By 1943, Adolf Hitler and his commanding officers were quite aware of the huge tank losses suffered in the previous years, mostly while fighting in the Soviet Union. In order to hopefully increase the overall production of tanks, at the start of 1943, Adolf Hitler appointed Albert Speer, the German Minister of Armament, to supervise the entire war production. At that time, other tank projects, such as the Tiger and Panther, were underway. These inevitably affected the production of other vehicles, including the Panzer IV. Speer soon informed Hitler that an increase in production was only possible if it focused on the Panzer IV and StuG III. Attempts to increase production showed some results. For example, Nibelungnwerke increased its Panzer IV output by 20 vehicles per month during March 1943. On the other hand, problems with deliveries of necessary parts were becoming an ever-present threat to the German tank program, which would only worsen as the years passed.
FEATURES:
This new 1/35 scale kit allows modelers to construct a Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H Late-Production tank with Zimmerit. If builders wish to add Zimmerit texture themselves, then plain armor surfaces are included in the box to which putty can be added and appropriately textured. This allows modelers to build the exact pattern that they want. However, most will probably opt for the convenience of Dragon’s marvelously molded Zimmerit, where the patterned surface is accurately and realistically rendered on major parts like the turret, glacis, upper hull, lower hull, rear panel and front/rear fenders. Of course, this negates the need for modelers to undertake the onerous task of adding Zimmerit themselves. Other highlights of this kit are that the hull schurzen has been recreated in metal to achieve scale thickness. Various decal markings are also provided in the box, as are a healthy collection of photo-etched metal parts. Never before has a Panzer IV H Late-Production kit been so convenient and versatile!
