DESCRIPTION:

The HK MP5 is a 9 mm German submachine gun, the production of which started in 1966 and is still ongoing. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this weapon is up to 400-425 m / s, and the theoretical rate of fire - up to around 800 shots per minute. The weight of the weapon without a magazine - in the MP5A2 version - is 2.54 kilograms. The HK MP5 was developed by Heckler und Koch GmbH as a kind of development of the G3 rifle, introduced into service in the 1950s. Both weapons displayed many design similarities, but the MP5 was also clearly different from its predecessor. First of all, it was smaller, lighter, and had a higher rate of fire. What is very important - it was also adapted to the 9x19 mm Parabellum cartridge. The weapon turned out to be highly successful, and thanks to the successful operation of SAS soldiers in 1980 to retake the terrorist-controlled Iranian embassy in London, it became an almost iconic weapon! It is worth adding that many models of this submachine gun were created in the course of production, including: MP5A2 (basic version, with a fixed stock), MP5A5 (version with a sliding stock) or MP5SD1 (silenced version without a stock). The submachine gun is also used in Poland, for example in GROM or Formoza units.
